The A-142-5 consists of two simple envelope generators that can also function as an A/D LFO.

Switching between envelope and LFO is done using the loop toggle switch. When this is in the "off" position, the unit operates as an envelope generator, and the envelope is triggered by the rising edge of the trigger signal applied to the "Trig." jack. The trigger inputs are normalized (1->2).
When the switch is in the "on" position, the unit operates as an LFO.
The module also features a "VCL" (voltage control loop) input, which allows the unit to be switched to "loop on" via an external control signal when the loop switch is in the "loop off" position. This is a digital control signal (high/low), and the voltage must be approximately +3.5V or higher for the switch to occur.
When a trigger signal is applied during LFO operation, the envelope and LFO signals are superimposed.
The "Decay" time parameter is available for each unit. This allows the decay time to be manually adjusted from approximately 2 ms to 2 seconds. The attack time can be fixed for each unit between approximately 1 ms and 15 ms using a trim potentiometer. The factory default setting is approximately 3 ms, which corresponds to the attack value of the TB-303.
The signal appears at the envelope/LFO output "Out". The peak value of the envelope or LFO is approximately +10V. The signal is visually indicated by an LED.
