The Flame Mäander is back, and this time it’s found a home in the Eurorack format. The new Mäander-M is a more compact and streamlined version of the original desktop unit, yet it retains the unique soul of its predecessor — a powerful wavetable and FM synthesizer voice that is intricately linked with a 12-channel analog filterbank and a deeply integrated sequencer.

The concept behind the Mäander-M is the interesting synergy between its three main components. It comes with a 4-voice polyphonic wavetable oscillator (also capable of FM) which provides the raw sonic material. This is joined by a stereo noise generator and a stereo audio input, meaning you can feed anything from your rack through the Mäander-M's powerful processing.

Next up is the filterbank, and what a filterbank it is! With 12 bands, each with its own VCA and envelope control, you can sculpt your sound with incredible precision. The sequencer is the key that unlocks this potential. It features one polyphonic track (up to 4-voice chords) for the oscillator and 14 monophonic tracks for the filter channels, noise, and audio input. This allows you to create intricate, animated filter patterns that can transform a simple wavetable into a bubbling, morphing soundscape.

There's also an arpeggiator and a keyboard scaler which further adds to its jamming potential. After stumbling across some amazing generative patterns that make good use of its filterbank, it's nice to know that it comes with on-board patch memory to store all those amazing sequences. The module ships pre‑mounted in a powered 56HP wooden skiff, ready to play, experiment, and get lost in.
