Boundary Layer is a triple cycling slew acting as a swiss army knife of modulation functions. Each of the channels can act individually as a modulation oscillator, voltage controlled slew (including portamento), or AR/AD envelope (decay or release determined by choice of input). They are tied together by three inputs which affect all channels, as well as three outputs which select the MAX, MID, and MIN of all three voltages.

CYCLE SWITCH

Up position causes the channel to oscillate without external input. Equivalent to patching EOC to TRIG.

INVERT SWITCH

Inverts CV input. With no external CV input the envelope shape is changed between exponential and logarithmic.

CV SELECT SWITCH

Selects whether incoming CV applies to RISE, FALL, or BOTH.

With no external CV input it determines whether the shape is applied to RISE, FALL, or BOTH.

ALL TRIG, CV, SLEW

Adds to each individual channel input for CV and SLEW and acts as a logic OR for TRIG.

TRIG INPUTS

Any rising edge of 0.6V will start the RISE/FALL cycle. Use this for A/D envelopes or at audio rate for hard sync and waveshaping effects. Does not retrigger during RISE stage.

CV INPUTS

Modulates the RISE, FALL, or BOTH as determined by switches and attenuator.

SLEW INPUTS

Use this with gate input for A/R envelopes with V/OCT inputs for portamento effects with audio signals for low pass filtering.

BOUND INPUTS

Replaces the thresholds for rise and fall. Only affects cycling behavior, can be used to gate a channel on and off, as a vca over the output voltage, or as a combined AM/FM effect.

RISE

The rate at which the voltage rises. Equivalent to "ATTACK" if used as an envelope.

FALL

The rate at which the voltage falls. Equivalent to "DECAY" if used as an envelope with TRIG input or "RELEASE" with SLEW input.

CV ATTENUATOR

Modulates the RISE, FALL, or BOTH as determined by switch. Acts as a shape control with no external input.

OUT

Channel voltage output.

MAX OUTPUT

Selects the highest of three voltages.

MID OUTPUT

Selects the middle of three voltages. Requires at least two channels to be active to output a signal.

MIN OUTPUT

Selects the minimum of three voltages. Requires all three channels to be active to output a signal. 

EOC OUTPUT 

Outputs a gate signal for End Of Rise or End Of Fall depending on rear header selection.
